Dear all,
I'm planning to buy either Intel CPUs or Mac Studio as the main machine for running VASP tasks. I'm wondering about the efficiency of a Mac Studio when running VASP. Approximately how many CPUs would it be equivalent to? My budget is around $12,000.
Really looking forward to your opinion and best regards,
Duo
Is it worth it to buy a Mac Studio mainly for the VASP calculations?

Dear duo_wang1,
Vasp is developed on intel, amd, and nec processors. So we will always optimize vasp and test vasp on processors of these
companies. By doing these tests we are also testing their latest compilers. There is no vasp development done on mac
processors. So my recommendation would be to stick with intel or amd if this is an option for you.
All the best Jonathan
