POSCAR does not exist

#1 Post by Nour » Fri May 14, 2010 10:16 am

Dear VASP users,

I have installed vasp 5.2 and compiled it successfully (I think!), but when I execute ./vasp, it gives me the following:
error: the following file does not exist POSCAR.
I have been searching and thinking about it for a week now but i couldn't solve this problem, any help will be appreciated.
Nour.

POSCAR does not exist

First of all, please make sure you execute vasp in the same directory as where the input-files are stored (and that they exist).

If you run on a cluster environment please also make sure that the files are properly accessed from the nodes. Check with your sysadmin if you are uncertain on how to do this.

Cheers,
/Dan

Thank you very much Dan, it worked, but I have some other problems, I want to think about them first. I am using a single computer intel core 2 Duo, with fortran intel64 10.1 and mkl 10.0...

POSCAR does not exist

maybe this is a stupid suggestion, but please also consider about typos in the name of the file (this may be hidden characters or a leading blank in the filename: a file " POSCAR" is NOT recognized as POSCAR (= "POSCAR")
